Salvadorian V60 – Chef Eduardo Daboub

Last year with the pandemic beginning, we realized how coffee growers managed to place some batches of their best beans in the local market and coffees destined for export.

All this due in part to the slowdown with importing countries. This helped two things:

First, for the coffee growers to realize that, although the niche may be very small, there are consumers who are looking for quality; and that they generally have to go to other countries to acquire these coffees.

And second, that consumers who were not familiar with these grains could experience and enjoy a cup of excellent score, in the comfort of their own home.

On the eve of the launch of the new crop, growers may encounter a new problem. The shortage of empty containers in China.

You may wonder then … What does China have to do with whether or not you can have a better coffee?

For those who do international trade, it is no secret that due to the lack of empty spaces and equipment, freight from China to America has increased the price by more than 300%.

For this reason, shipping companies deconsolidate quickly to return empty containers to China. Even rejecting reserves to export from the new world to other latitudes.

This can be very difficult for exporters to place their product on the international market.

With the Chinese New Year that occurred in the second half of February 2021, shipping companies could be expected to stock up on containers and international transactions to return to normal …

Otherwise, coffee growers will have to sell part of their best lots in the country. Some of them have already realized that it is possible, and it is also a good business.

In any case, we must wait, and that the best for everyone happens. Although if they leave me a good coffee around here, I don’t get angry.
